I think fruit cakes gets a bad rap… Not that I like all fruit cake and not that I want it very often but, Mr. G and I enjoy a good piece of fruit cake during the holidays. AND we enjoy our homemade fruit cake cookies.
Making fruit cake cookies is another one of our holiday traditions. Seems like many of our traditions have to do with food and drink!
Our fruit cake cookie recipe came from my mother-in-law who got the recipe from her mother-in-law. We love these cookies and we do get several special requests for them too! Really!
They are fruity, nutty and a bit crunchy around the edges. One of the ingredients is Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk–so how bad can they be!
THE RECIPE
1 lb of Candied Mixed Fruit
1/2 Cup of Self Rising Flour
3 1/2 oz of Coconut
2 Cups of Chopped Pecans
1 Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Dredge fruit through flour
- Add coconut, nuts and milk
- Bake in 300 oven for about 20- 25 minutes on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Yep, it’s fruitcake weather! Love some good fruitcake cookies! Yum!
I adore fruitcake. I really don’t understand why it is maligned. Thanks for the inspiration to make something for myself.
Let me know how you like them. We just love ‘em.
Everything about them is yum! hp
