Rose Companions: Zinnias

I have always loved Zinnias–they are such  good companions for roses! However, this year I was given State Fair Zinnias from my friend, Ron Daniels, and the only word that comes to mind is WOW. The hotter and drier it gets, the more these beauties bloom and bloom and bloom.

These lovelies are wonderful in arrangements as they just last and last in a vase!

A big bang for your buck! See…

  1. I also grow zinnias but they don’t grow so tall for me in the UK…I am often inspired by certain flowers when I make my textile pieces and zinnias are one of my favourites…

  2. Fine combinations! Where do you get your phlox and is it the “old” garden phlox, not new hybrids? When I reworked a large perennial border, my helper pretty much wiped out mine, which were passalongs from my mother’s garden many years ago. I live in Zone 8.

  3. They are fantastic companions to roses and everything else. I don’t know why more people don’t grow zinnias. Wonderful plants.~~Dee
