GARDEN CENTERS
Garden Centers are starting to fill their shelves and bins with SPRING. This week it was seeds, seed starting supplies, garden decor and containers!
I’m finding Better Home and Gardens has so many new garden products I love!
Look at these pot saucers… They even have little feet on them! Three came home with me today.
And their Citronella game is strong! Candles and tabletop torches. I think I’m going with the white one on the top right.
So many fun things to see this time of year while we wait on plants!
POTTING SHED PUTTERINGS
I still have an over crowding problem in here, but I did manage to tidy the potting bench and make enough room for my computer so I could write this post! It inspires me to be with all the plants and the smell of dirt especially on a sunny day.
And, I bought more seeds from Renee’sGarden . . . 🌸🌸🌸
NEW PROJECT…
A section of our living privacy fence of mixed shrubs became overrun with Japanese Honeysuckle. The upside is that we now have the “opportunity” to redo a section. The removal project started last fall when I “borrowed” Mr. G’s recip saw and got busy. I love this kind of work. Mr. G saw where my excitement over the recip saw was going so he gifted me my own. This year I will no longer have to borrow. Watch out garden — I love power tools. Seriously, I think every gardener need one!

NOW ONTO THE GOOD STUFF!
This area has always included a potting table (made by Mr. G) but now will include a cold frame. Mr. G will make that too – my previous cold frame was taken down to make room for his grill and prep table.
This project is exciting and daunting at the same time as I am working around other existing plantings. Large shrubs and an ancient and huge unidentified locust tree – known better by my kids as the “thorn tree” as it has thorns that will change your life! 😬 The sole of a boot is no match! Of course it would be easy to fill it up with roses … and I just might! I am finding so many I can’t live without.

Ah, Renee’s Garden! Renee is my neighbor. The sweet peas are my niece’s favorite; but they were started last autumn. I dig the nasturtiums, and probably tried most of them at one time or another.
I’m a big fan of the recip saw for pruning jobs, and I have also used it to remove invasive shrubby honeysuckles. (The invasive vine isn’t a problem here–too cold.) http://www.coldclimategardening.com/2009/05/12/pruning-with-a-reciprocating-saw/ By the way, have you ever had Lee Ginenthal of Der Rosenmeister Nursery on your podcast? He specializes in hardy roses, many of which he gets from Germany.

You are such an inspiration! Thank you for all of the helpful info. I also have honeysuckle, but it is not invasive or a problem. I love the scented flowers. I have more beautiful daffodils in bloom now and enjoying my pansies which I love. BTW, I bought some Earl Grey Black Tea by Bigelow today. I love it! I’m sure you have tried it, too.
While in Turkey last year I bought a tea called RELAX and it actually just looks like beautiful potpourri. You feel relaxed just by looking at it. My Tete-a-Tete daffodils are close to color but today it has gone from mid 50s to snow showers. Are you on instagram? If so, I will post a picture of the relax tea.
There were two tea shops in my area, but only one now as the loose tea was very, very expensive. I went to a sampling of their teas and did purchase some. They gave us tea candy to take home. It was interesting as the person had traveled and knew all about teas. Did you know that white tea is better than green tea for you? Think the white tea is called the champagne of teas. I took Ikebana classes a long time ago and attended a Japanese tea ceremony given my the instructor in her home. No, I’m not on Instagram. I really love the Earl Grey Black tea and hope you will try it if you haven’t already. There is a big Daffodil Festival and Show in Gloucester, VA, coming soon. You may have heard about this as it is held every year. There are utterly fresh and beautiful floral arrangements (very large, too) using daffodils. Brent and Becky Heath grow fields of daffodils there and have a shop. Google it and check it out.

Hellebore are beautiful here right now. Just a splash of Tete A Tete whiled other daffs are just budding.
Oh I know they are beautiful. I love mine but I am hoping to find another color this year at one of our local garden centers. If not, I will order something as there are so many different ones now.
I have seen nearly black ones and lust over those…the two I have are blush rose and white.
