Bloom Thyme Friday: Rebirth

To me there is nothing … nothing! like the rebirth of spring. Just when I think things are as dead as dead can be, the green reappears… Reminds of what an amazing Creator we have.

All of a sudden there are little bits of green everything. I don’t want to blink …. afraid I will miss something! ONE of my favorite spring bloomers is the saucer magnolia. I don’t have one, but there is one about 2 miles from me that I get to enjoy. I keep driving by to watch it unfold! I hope I don’t get branded a stalker by going by so often! From the look of the buds, is going to be spectacular this year!

I have a baby Chanticleer Pear tree that is going to bloom for the first time this year. I can’t wait!

People often ask me what is my favorite spring bloom. It is too hard for me to decide. Seems it is whatever is blooming at the time!

I hope you are enjoying spring where you live. Do you have a favorite spring bloomer?

Attention to Detail

Now that most of the structural plants are in place in my new sunny space, it is time to work on the details.

First up this morning was a trip to Country Harmony. WOW what a treat to be there in the spring. So many beautiful things! Lucky for me, Brad was there to act as a filter and to help me decide on what beautiful things I should take home for my new sunny space! He always has great ideas!

So today it is my pleasure to introduce these beauties into my garden…

  • Polka Dot Vinca
  • Sweet Alyssum
  • Trailing Red Dorotheanthus
  • Various Hens & Chickens
  • Chocolate Drop Coleus

Now it is time to get my boots on and get busy. I just love spring! I hope wherever you are you are enjoying spring too!

For me, today is one of those, “God’s in His kingdom and all’s right with the world” kind of days!

Roses are waking up…

Oh the miracle that is April. In February when I looked out at the rose garden through snow and ice and more snow and ice, I thought that this could be a year when the roses refuse to wake up. But, they are not only waking up, they look strong and healthy! With a little pruning, a little fertilizer and some nice spring rains, they will be more than ready to show off in early June!

I think we are on the right path…

100 bags of top soil and 52 brick stepping stones later and the new pathways are taking shape. I won’t even bore you with the details of how many times I have moved and “tweaked” the stone path but, let’s just say — enough! Looking good…
