Thanks to Mr. G’s superb handiwork, my roses and their companions live in a gated community. In no way are these gates opening today! We have had 15″ on fluffy snow and it is packed. With the extreme temperatures (-37 windchill / -8 real temp), this snow isn’t going anywhere.
But, the gates are still pretty…

Here are some other shots I took this morning as I waded into snow up to my knees — but, man, was it good to be outside!

Hard to believe that in a few months we will be back to this…
Oh, the miracles that gardeners get to see…

How about you?
What’s going on in your garden today? Are you like my California rose friend, Baldo Villegas (pictures of his process are here.) and you are pruning your roses this week, OR are you more like me … waiting on spring while you slip and slide through winter?
Looks like an enchanting place to stay inside, enjoy the view, and enjoy homemade chicken noodle soup!
Ah the snow is so pretty! Oh but the images after… I’m so envious of your lovely garden Teresa!
Thanks Jewels! Your garden is lovely too! I love seeing your veggie, your birds and your squirrels!
Woo Hoo! Winter wonderland T! I want a few gates…Still hoping that Big A will make a few recommendations for 2014!!!
PS if a heater can go in your birdbath, your back yard birds can have a drink during this horrible cold spell…to help keep them hydrated…xo
Thanks for the birdbath tip! You would love gates and they would be so nice in your garden!
Just need the builder…;-)
I agree with Lacey. Beautiful in snow and in bloom.
Thanks guys!
I love gates ,They offer the imagination infinite possibilities. I have several on my mountain land
Yes, they do add enchantment! Thanks for stopping by.
Such a delight to read you post and see your beautiful roses! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Catherine. Snow is pretty but I can’t wait for the “blooming” season! Glad you stopped by!
I can only imagine your anticipation! Stay warm!
What an amazing transition your garden makes! Unfortunately the only difference here is that in winter, nothing grows and its soaking wet
Where do you have your garden?
I have an allotment and garden in the south of England. So its not cold enough to really snow in the winter, just rains. Although the summers can be really nice. Hot but bearable
My dream is to get to visit England some day! So, I look forward to “visiting” England via your blog! Teresa
Thats very sweet of you. Although I think I can honestly say that this time of year does not do us any justice!
I am looking out at 2 more inches of fresh snow. Although it can be enchanting, we’d had PLENTY of enchanting snow this year and I am so excited to welcome spring! 🙂
Dear Teresa, Love all the photos and stories to go with them of your visit here with me! I will be sending on new photos of my roses that bloomed not long after you left! Peggy Martin
I can’t wait to see the roses!!
I can’t wait to see your pictures!
