Rose Buzz: Poseidon Floribunda

_Rose Buzz_Poseidon

If you are looking for a lovely lavender rose to add to your garden this is the one! I love the soft color. It pairs so beautifully with all the pinkness that goes on in my garden! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The blooms on this beautiful Kordes rose are large, full, ruffly and fragrant. Win. Win. Win. Win.IMG_2509

This rose grows tall and narrow in my garden so I have 5 growing close together for a more dramatic look.

I have read that it is hardy in Zones 5b – 9 and I have also read recommendations that it does best in Zones 6 – 9. While officially my garden is in Zone 5b, the last 3 years that I have grown this rose, the winters have all been very different from each other! #crazyweather

This rose is one of the most disease resistant roses in my garden, which is just the icing on the cake as far as Iโ€™m concerned!

I checked and Chamblee Roses has it! Read more or purchase here.

I think this blog post should carry a warning–#excessivepictures! But, I just love taking pictures of this rose! ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you grow Poseidon or have other recommendations for lavender roses?

Let us know.

  1. Oh, Teresa! This is gorgeous. Adore the little points on the petal edges. I planted Love Song (Weeks Roses) last year and was impressed with the growth and amount of blooms in it’s first year. The blooms are big with ruffled petals and truly lavender. Poseidon is just outside my growing zone (5). Love Song may be a good substitute for slightly colder climates. How would you compare the two?

  2. Hi Teresa, I discovered Poseidon in the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, loved the buds. In my recent travels I have been discovering quite a few lavender/blues including Lavender Pinocchio, French Lace, Ernest’s Blue and Dorothy Perkins! I’m thinking it’s time I got in a blue mood with my paintings!!

    1. A blue mood for you indeed! Will be exquisite. I love the Peggy Rockefeller rose garden. We’re the old garden roses blooming when you were there? As I recall you were there in June and that may have been a bit late. French Lace is very nice too! Nice to hear from you! ๐ŸŒน

  3. Hi Teresa, I was wondering if you could give an update on Poseidon and note how tall and wide it is in your garden?

    1. Hello, regarding Poseidon… I grew 5 Poseidons close together for about 6 years but no longer have them. They were beautiful, healthy and fragrant roses that grew about 2 w by 3 – 3 1/2 tall. However, last year 2 of the roses started exhibiting odd growth. I did not have them tested but felt it might be RRD so I removed all of them last fall as an aggressive move. I have been fortunate not to be plagued with RRD in my garden and want to keep it that way for as long as possible. I miss Poseidon and do recommend them highly.

      1. Hi Teresa, how much sun did your Poseidon roses get? I have a fairly shady spot with only about 3-4 hours of sun a day. Would it be ok there? I live in zone 7a
